Most of your AutoZone / advance Auto places have rental tools / spring compressors. A coworker of mine let me borrow his set which are AmPros. No idea if they’re any good or if this is sabotage but he’s a huge car nut and says he’s used them plenty.

If it's going to be a one and done spring swap with your car I'd just rent a set from AutoZone. Just for the love of God be careful.

I was planning to buy, since I plan on doing this on a few other vehicles down the line. Going to be getting a WRX in a few months that I wanted to put a lift on as well.

My advice was going to be to bring the assemblies to a shop and have them swap the springs over for you. They won't charge much. Reason being, if you end up having a spring compressor failure for any reason, be it breakage or improper use, it might take your head off of your shoulders. That said, if you do choose to diy make sure you buy a quality compressor and be super sure you're using it properly.

Rent them from Autozone, you won’t use the ones you’d buy enough to justify good ones and cheap ones are notoriously short lived.

I’ve swapped springs a few times and whenever one of my friends has a spring compressor, it’s been 50/50 on needing to go rent some from a parts store because theirs didn’t work.

The stock BRZ setup is pretty good, I wouldn’t recommend half measures like springs. I’d either keep it stock or go full coilovers (if you aren’t doing motorsports, stick with the stockers and if you are, build to class).

Suspension, brakes, and tires are places you shouldn’t cheap out on, or suffer half measures. Do it right or don’t do it.

Cheap suspension parts are one of the quickest ways to ruin a car.
